How to fit a chest float
Takes about a minute. Try it once on a dry surface first
- Check the sizeChest floats suit most babies from about 3 months, once they have good head control, up to 24 months. Check the weight range on this page.
- Open every strapUndo the shoulder straps, the chest buckle and the crotch strap.
- Seat your babyPlace your baby in the float with the soft chest pad at the front and one leg through each side of the crotch strap.
- Fasten and adjustClose the crotch strap first, then the chest buckle and shoulder straps. Adjust until snug: two fingers should just fit under each strap, and the float should not ride up when you lift gently.
- Add the canopy and tailClip the UPF 50+ canopy into its slots at the front and fit the stability tail at the back. Both are removable.
- Into the water, slowlyLower your baby into the water and keep a hand within reach at all times.
Questions parents ask
Everything you need to know before you order
When is my baby ready for a chest float?
Most babies are ready from about 3 months, once they have good head control, and up to 24 months. Always check the weight range shown on this page.
Does it need inflating?
No. The core is solid foam with no air chamber and no valve, so it is ready to use straight out of the box.
Back or tummy position?
Backstroke position suits younger babies and face-to-face time. Tummy position at about 40° encourages kicking. You can switch as your baby grows in confidence.
Is the sun canopy removable?
Yes. The UPF 50+ canopy clips on and off, and the stability tail can be removed too.
Can I take it on vacation?
Yes. Standard chest floats do not deflate, so pack them in your suitcase or checked luggage. If space is tight, look at our foldable and self-inflating travel models.
How do I clean it?
Rinse with fresh water after every swim, especially after chlorine or sea water, and let it dry in the shade before storing.
Is it a life-saving device?
No. It is a swimming aid for supervised use. It does not protect against drowning, so stay within arm's reach and fasten every strap before your baby goes in the water.
When will my order arrive?
Orders are dispatched within 1–2 business days. Shipping is free and tracked to US addresses and usually takes 7–10 business days. You will receive a tracking link by email when it ships.
Can I return it?
Yes, you have 30 days from delivery to return your order, and floats carry a 2-year warranty. See our refund policy for how it works.
